I was looking forward to diving into this one in time for the new year. You know, "New year, new me" and all that fluff. But this book under delivered. It was a tiresome 3-hour book if you ask me.

(But if you happen to jive with books like this, I'm sorry, but do read on. It was simply not for me.)

I think the books gets by with the shock value provided by the title. It's just one looooong book of pep talks, in my opinion, could've been summed up in far less pages. Being told YES YOU CAN is great and all but I guess I was after for more substance. A collection of pep talks can only go so far.

It was repetitive. Where's the evidence based research to back up your claims? The author basically talks of things I already fundamentally know as a person but have trouble practicing. For example, incorporating exercise in your every day is necessary to keep your mind and body healthy but it is hard to do. The answer? Get off your lazy ass and just do it. Well dang it, why didn't I think of that before?! MIND BLOWING MATERIAL RIGHT THERE.

Seriously though. This book offers nothing new. I guess I can say this because I'm not new to this genre. I have books and even podcasts that offer similar content but with more meat. It tells you the WHYs of your actions/mindset and HOW you can improve/get over them. They offer a well-rounded approach. This to me feels more like a jumping point. I think I'm just way past that point to find this book useful.
